At Ebenezer, God's Word is foundational to our beliefs. God's Word, written by men inspired by His Holy Spirit, is the ABSOLUTE TRUTH and ULTIMATE AUTHORITY. God's Word contains the answers to every question and guidance for every situation we may encounter. If we see conflict in God's Word or do not understand it, our default position is that God's Word is ALWAYS RIGHT. We reject the feelings of our deceitfully wicked hearts and the thoughts of our feeble minds when they lead us into contradiction with the Absolute Truth of God's Word. We realize that we may not always understand everything this side of Heaven, but because of our relationship and trust in the Author, the Finisher, & Perfecter of our faith, we are content to trust Him now, until we can see plainly then when we are by His side. We strive for a closer, more intimate relationship with Him through His Word, prayer, worship, service, and submission to His Will.
A catechism is an educative and regulative formulation of church doctrine. It provides both a faith and learning tool for initiation into the full life of the church and a formal expression of the essential teachings that the church expects its members to understand and believe. Therefore, the learning of the catechism should be viewed, along with baptism and the profession of faith, as a necessary step in approving Christians for membership in the church body.
Part One of the Transitional Book of Doctrines and Discipline contains the doctrine of the Global Methodist Church. The Transitional Book of Doctrines and Discipline of the Global Methodist Church is intended to serve as a resource for all who wish to join in a “methodical,” practical, and warm- hearted pursuit of loving God and serving others as Jesus’ disciples in the world. Beginning with confessions rooted in Scripture and shaped by the great teaching of the Church universal, the Transitional Book of Doctrines and Discipline provides the essential structure for the Global Methodist Church from its official launch on May 1, 2022 until its convening General Conference expected in the fall of 2024.
